Causes of lubricating oil water inflow and how to deal with it?

When the engine oil enters the water, if it is not treated in time, it will cause serious consequences, such as the deformation of important components such as engine crankshaft and connecting rod, resulting in engine shaking, and even more serious, the engine will be scrapped.

So how should we judge whether the oil has entered the water? And how to find the reason why the oil enters the water?

So what causes water to enter the engine?

1. The engine water is blocked and leaked. The water is blocked and rusted due to the corrosion of scale. The cooling water will enter the oil passage from the water channel to the oil pan. This reason is very common, so check the water blockage frequently.

2. If the oil radiator and pipeline are damaged, the water outside the radiator will penetrate into the oil radiator, resulting in water ingress of oil.

3. Cracks in cylinder liner

When the cooling water contacts with the working cylinder liner, it is easy to produce cracks. Once cracks occur, the cooling water will directly enter the cylinder and enter the oil pan through the cylinder wall, which will make the oil white, and the white oil will lead to poor combustion and white smoke of the engine.

4. The cylinder liner sealing ring is damaged. The damage of the cylinder liner sealing ring is a common cause of oil water inflow. Therefore, when troubleshooting the cause of the fault, we must remember to check whether the cylinder liner sealing ring is complete. If the cylinder gasket is damaged and the water circulation is fast, the water in the water channel will flow into the oil channel, causing oil water inflow.

The damage of cylinder gasket is also one of the common causes of water ingress of engine oil. Try to use a new cylinder gasket after disassembling the machine every time, so as to avoid oil leakage caused by water leakage of cylinder gasket and engine damage

There are four judgment methods for oil water inflow:

By observing the appearance of the engine oil of the excavator, it is easy to judge whether the engine oil contains water by color. The oil without water presents a translucent oil bright color, while the oil with water presents an opaque brown or earthy yellow.

Check whether the excavator coolant contains oil. If some parts of the engine are damaged, the engine coolant will enter the lubrication system and mix with the oil. The infiltrated oil will also be found in the coolant of the water tank, which can be easily identified.

If water enters the engine oil, it will react with the coolant at high temperature to form emulsion. The dipstick will be found white and foam.

When the excavator oil contains a lot of water, the oil level of the oil will rise. At this time, we can simply judge by the level of the oil dipstick.
