Causes Of Contamination in Oil Purifiers And Treatment Methods

Writer: Kaiqian Oil Purifier Release time:2025-11-03 16:47 Clicks:

Ⅰ. Causes of Contamination
Dirt within the oil filter primarily comes from two sources: contaminants carried by the filtered oils and contaminants generated or accumulated by the filter itself during the filtration process.
Oils:
  1. Solid Contaminants: Solids such as metal wear particles, dust, sand, and rubber/plastic shavings from seal wear generated during oil operation.
  2. Moisture: Condensate from air, cooling system leaks, and water intrusion into the oil during the process.
  3. Gum, Sludge, and Carbon Deposits: Products formed by the oxidation and deterioration of oil under high temperature and oxygen, which can easily clog the filter element.
  4. Mixing Oils: Mixing oils of different brands produces insoluble matter.

Contaminants Generated or Accumulated by the Oil purifier:
  1. Filter Element Clogging and Damage:

  • Clogging: When the amount of contaminants being filtered exceeds the filter element's capacity, the contaminants adhere tightly to the filter element's surface or inside, increasing the pressure differential, reducing flow, and ultimately clogging the filter element.
  • Damage: Continuing to use the filter element beyond its service life, or damaging it due to pressure shock, can cause previously trapped contaminants to be released back into the oil, causing secondary contamination.

  2. Internal Scaling and Rust:

Long-term exposure to water-containing or oxidized oil can cause rust and oil scale to form on metal pipes and tanks inside the oil filter. This can also breed bacteria and fungi, forming bio-sludge, exacerbating clogging and corrosion.

  3. Seal Wear:

Seals age and wear over time, and the resulting debris can also become contaminants.

II. Treatment Methods

  1. Regularly replace the filter element:

Observe the pressure gauge on the filter element to determine when it needs to be replaced. If the pressure reading is too high or the pump makes unusual noises during oil intake, remove and clean it immediately. Reinstall the unit after cleaning to prevent contaminants from entering the equipment.

  2. Preventing External Contaminants:

  •   Keep the equipment's fuel inlet and breather valve clean to prevent external contaminants from entering.
  •   Regularly inspect the equipment's seals and cooling system to prevent water leaks.

  3. Cleaning and Maintenance of the Oil Purifier Machine:

  • Regularly clean the interior of the oil filter: After multiple filter element changes or after handling particularly dirty oil, thoroughly clean the oil tank and canister.
  • Inspect and Replace Seals: Regularly inspect all seals and replace any signs of aging, deformation, or damage immediately.
  • Rust Prevention: If rust is detected, remove it. If the oil filter is not used for an extended period, clean the interior, fill it with fresh oil, and seal it.
