Background
Nestled in the heart of the Wumeng Mountains, Qianxi County of Guizhou Province is not only a region of rich natural beauty but also a key strategic node in China’s "West-to-East Power Transmission" initiative. Since its establishment in 2003, State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) Guizhou Jinyuan Qianxi Zhongshui Power Generation Co., Ltd.—hereafter referred to as Qianxi Power Plant—has become a pillar thermal power plant in the region. With 4×300MW and 1×660MW generator units, the plant has cumulatively generated over 115.4 billion kilowatt-hours, playing a crucial role in regional economic development and energy security.
Guided by China’s national "dual carbon" goals, Qianxi Power Plant continues to advance its green transformation strategy. In alignment with this vision, the plant recently introduced a new Turbine Oil Vacuum Coalescence Purification Machine, marking another major step in its efforts toward technological innovation and sustainable operations.
Project Overview: Equipment Delivery and Commissioning
To address the purification needs of turbine oil systems for Units #1 to #4, the plant commissioned a specialized filtration solution developed by Chongqing Kaiquan Filter Machine Manufacturing Co., Ltd. This system integrates coalescence separation and vacuum flash evaporation technology, delivering enhanced purification performance with significant energy efficiency.
Key Features of the Equipment:
High-Efficiency Oil Purification:
Effectively removes moisture (free and emulsified water), dissolved gases (including acidic gases), and particulate contaminants (down to ≤3μm), ensuring the treated oil meets the GB/T 7596-2000 Turbine Oil Quality Standard for In-Service Operation.
Intelligent Automation:
The unit is equipped with a PLC-based intelligent control system, enabling real-time monitoring of critical parameters such as oil temperature, vacuum level, and pressure. It supports unmanned operation and remote data transmission to the central control room via an IoT communication module.
Energy Saving & Environmental Compliance:
With low-power motors and heat recovery design, the system reduces energy consumption by more than 30% compared to conventional filtration methods. The waste oil recovery rate exceeds 95%, significantly cutting hazardous waste generation.
On-Site Installation and Optimization
With full cooperation from Qianxi’s Equipment, Safety & Environmental Protection, and Production Technology departments, the installation of the purification unit for Unit #4 was successfully completed in May 2025. During commissioning, technical teams adjusted system parameters to match the operational profile of the unit, achieving the following performance benchmarks:
Moisture Reduction:
Initial water content of 500 ppm was reduced to below 50 ppm.
Particle Removal Efficiency:
NAS cleanliness level improved from grade 9 to grade 6.
Enhanced Demulsification:
Noticeable improvement in oil clarity and a 90% reduction in foaming tendency.
Final Acceptance and Performance Validation
On May 2nd, a technical expert panel organized by the plant conducted a comprehensive acceptance inspection. After 72 hours of continuous operation testing, the equipment demonstrated outstanding stability, purification effectiveness, and compliance with safety standards. Highlights from the acceptance report include:
Operational Safety:
No activation of critical interlock systems (heater-pump linkage and vacuum overpressure shutdown), fully complying with Electric Power Safety Work Regulations.
Environmental Benefits:
Annual reduction of approximately 12 tons in waste oil treatment, contributing to a 15% cut in carbon emissions.
Conclusion
The successful deployment and commissioning of the turbine oil vacuum coalescence filtration system at Qianxi Power Plant not only reinforces its commitment to environmental protection and operational excellence but also reflects the broader strategy of SPIC to embrace intelligent, sustainable technologies. This project sets a benchmark for future equipment upgrades in thermal power facilities across the region.
